The best material at the best price
We believe that PVC is the best material to make terraria due to its already mentioned properties (chemical and mechanical resistance and high thermal insulation).
Now, if compared with our competitors, at Pro-Cages we use the best PVC at the best price, because we use:
Higher density: 0.85 g/cm³ versus 0.60 g/cm³ of other brands. This results in best resistance which allows our terraria to be screwed and assembled. Competitors that do not use this density affirm that it is welding what provides resistance, because it is impossible to screw and make the necessary notches for assembly when working with such low-density materials.
It is like making a piece of furniture with balsa wood or pine wood. Balsa wood cannot be screwed, but only glued, and it is not as resistant as pine wood.
Increased thickness: 12 mm versus 10 mm or lower. Effective insulation of walls does not only require an insulating material; the material used must also be thick enough. From a certain thickness, insulation improves significantly; thus increased thickness results in more efficient insulation.
Any 4 mm-thick material, be it plastic or not, will not provide appropriate insulation since proper performance of the materials demands higher thickness.
This is why we cannot be deceived by brands using PVC or other materials that expect effective insulation with 4 mm.
Moreover, and going back to the resistance aspect, this thickness combined with density considerably differentiates our product from our competitors' PVC terraria. And going back to the comparison between woods, which is more resistant? A 10 mm-thick glued balsa wood furniture (equivalent to welded PVC) or one made with 12 mm-thick assembled or screwed pine wood?
So, why is it that our prices are better than other brands?
It is very simple; we are not craftspeople who produce tailor-made terraria one by one. Pro-cages also produces its own material, and makes all its terraria in one go, i.e. by production cell.
This may bring some occasional stock problems that we expect you will understand.
Production costs are dramatically lower which allows us to offer the best product at the best price.
